Aerospace Engineer


The Aerospace Engineer is responsible for resolving complex engineering problems associated with aircraft designs within various aircraft types and DeltaHawk configurations. Responsible for modeling of components, generation of DeltaHawk installations, production drawings and specifications. Subject matter expert for aircraft engine installation systems design, integration, and test.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing aircraft engineering and performance data, along with relevant aviation regulations and standards, and develop technical and execution plan for specific aircraft.
  • Design and develop installation package, including mounting structure, cowl, propeller selection, cooling, fuel, lubrication, instrumentation, controls, and all other systems as needed for a complete and airworthy installation package.
  • Work with technicians to oversee installation and expediently work through problems as they arise.
  • Develop and analyze installation/engine test plans, data and assist execution of testing.
  • Assist and/or oversee development of all documentation, including design, installation, maintenance, parts, and operation.
  • Assist with installation/engine certification plan.
  • Design and analyze primary engine components to meet performance, durability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Design, analyze and optimize engine fuel, coolant, oil and air systems to meet performance and aircraft installation requirements.
  • Design and supervise tests that provide accurate insight into performance of specific components or systems.
  • Interact with suppliers and consultants to meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Design and analyze aircraft installation packages that meet all 14CFR Part 23 and Part 33 requirements.
  • Interact with customers to provide design data and instructions for aircraft installations.
  • Use FEA and CFD analysis tools to design engine systems and components.

Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications

Required

  • A Bachelor's degree from accredited school in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent and 3+ years extensive aircraft engineering experience.
  • Must be capable of working in a team environment to creatively, and quickly, solve technical problems. Good technical writing skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Have the ability to effectively generate detailed engineering documents.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Individual will show the ability to interpret analytical reports, Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFRs), Airworthiness Directives (AD's), and other engineering documents/drawings while utilizing excellent problem solving skills using analytical methods.
  • Must be able to make sound engineering decisions and develop the documentation to support these decisions in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of basic PC skills and Microsoft Office software suite.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Solidworks preferred or other drafting / modeling programs.
  • Previous experience with commercial aircraft and/or engines.
  • Appointed DER.
  • Solid knowledge in working with GD&T.

Working Conditions

This position is a professional engineering position, yet combined with occasional “hands-on”, assisting technicians working through problems on aircraft installations.
